This tea is the highest category of the group of the so-called "Three Tips". Tian Jian is made from the highest quality raw materials. The second grade – Gift Tips, is produced from third or fourth top leaves; third grade – Live tips, consist of very mature leaves. Despite the differences, these three teas have similar flavor characteristics.
Anhua Tian Jian tea has a very strong woody flavor, since after the process of "wo dui", tea leaves are dried on pine wood. This makes this dark tea similar to Lapsang Souchong. Despite the fact that the 'Heavenly tips' is the highest-grade of tea, it contains cuttings, which are necessary for all dark teas.
Traditional packaging is a wicker rectangular basket in which the tea leaves are so tightly packed that they are lightly pressed under their own weight. Such a basket is usually then placed in a cotton bag for better storage.
