According to legend, this tea was earlier called the "knocking down scent" or "frightening to faint scent" because of its extremely intense smell. When this tea was first given as a gift to the emperor, he liked the fresh taste and aroma so much that he ordered the fragrant tea renamed the 'Emerald Spirals of Spring'. As history shows, Dongting Bi Luo Chun was admired not only by the emperor; it became more popular with each passing year, both in China and beyond.
The leaves for Dongting Bi Luo Chun are picked only in the spring and only in the morning, because in the evening all the leaves need to be twisted into thin green spirals with a silvery sheen. Correctly made spirals have to be completely covered with gentle fluff. This bright yellow beverage intoxicates the mind with a rich aroma of flowers, fruity taste and honey notes.
