Mount Emei is one of the four sacred mountains of Buddhism; its highest point reaches 3099 meters. The climate in this area is perfect for growing tea. In the early spring (late February–March) the collection of buds for green and yellow tea begins. A unique feature of this tea is its raw materials; because of the altitude of the gardens and plantations, the buds are very small. The picking and processing of this tea has become a true artform.
The methods of processing the tiny yellow buds were acquired from Mengding masters. These methods, in combination with high-grade raw materials, gives a completely unique result. The tea is stronger with notes reminiscent of the famous variety of green tea hailing from this region, Zhu Ye Qing. The small buds contain quite a lot of caffeine making this variety the best yellow tea for toning the body.
