It is believed that this citrus fruit was brought to Europe from the Canary Islands by Christopher Columbus. Bergamot was initially cultivated on an industrial scale in the 17th century in Italy, near the city of Bergamo – hence the name. Initially, the bergamot orange was used in perfumery because of its persistent, memorable fragrance. But then this amazing healing properties were opened.
A cup of tea with bergamot, drunk before bed, will give a fulfilling and undisturbed sleep, as the bergamot essential oil perfectly soothes and relaxes. Bergamot, brewed without the addition of tea leaves, can be used for cosmetic purposes: it has an antiseptic effect and will help reduce imperfections of the skin. In combination with white tea, this citrus is able to quickly relieve headaches.
