"South of the clouds" – the literal translation of the name of the Chinese province of Yunnan, the most southwest region of the country. The land here is very mountainous, which causes sharp temperature changes; at the meeting of day and night, fogs are born that smoothly envelop the mountain ranges, creating the effect of being inside of a cloud. Those who live in this region, facing such conditions every day, have a special approach to life and drinking tea.
Green tea from Yunnan has a large leaf and rich aroma. Its polyphenol content is much higher than other green teas, giving it a strong toning effect. To produce this tea, buds with two identical leaves covered with a delicate, silver down are harvested. Due to the favorable climate of Yunnan province, tea leaves are harvested twice a year, once during spring and once in autumn. The spring harvest has a more pronounced sweet taste.
